Software Developer T2G252

Job Description

We are an environmental consultancy, based in Stoke Mandeville.

We specialise in the investigation and treatment of contaminated land, working on projects that range from small, domestic heating oil spills through to cleaning up the land for Terminal Five at Heathrow.

We are the only UK environmental consultancy that offers a complete cradle to grave service, dealing with every stage of the investigation/treatment process. This generates a lot of data in many different formats. Some time ago we took the decision to develop our own data management system to organise and harmonise this.

The resulting system, called Prism, now runs every part of our business.

Prism is primarily coded in VB.NET and C# with a MySQL database running on a LAMP server backend. The desk-based system is complimented by a mobile App, developed using React and Node.

We have recently embarked on an ambitious extension of Prism’s capabilities as we switch from analogue (i.e. Paper records) to digital data capture on site.

We are looking for a graduate in a computer science related filed with experience coding in .NET and MySQl or SQL or with experience in React/Node to assist with this development process at our offices in Stoke Mandeville. You will be working directly with the managing director who understands coding and the software development process. Under his direction you will be responsible for developing the Prism software to help take the business to the next level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture the functional and non-functional requirements in order to design the next stage of the software
  • Undertake the coding/development of the new software version
  • Support the test and release of the new software
  • Document the software and support its integration into the business

Personal Attributes

As a small company it is important to us that everyone is able to get along together and we try to provide a relaxed, informal environment to work in.

We encourage all our staff to contribute their own thoughts and ideas to their work. Our work environment suits individuals who enjoy getting involved, who are able to work independently and without constant supervision and who enjoy making a difference.
