Design Engineer Project Placement Redesign of a trailer component We are offering a 10-week placement for a design engineer graduate within a family-run manufacturing and engineering company based in the Midlands. We have a small design engineering team who juggle a multitude of projects at the same time ranging from streamlining and reworking existing designs, non-production-based design and brand-new product or part designs. The team has a specific project to undertake which could be executed by someone who was new to the team and to the business. The project is the redesign of a specific trailer component for one of our trailers in our commercial range. The project would be a great introduction to our products and manufacturing processes for the graduate. We will need someone to have at least a basic grasp of Solid Works in order to undertake this project. The project will involve using skills such as researching, prototyping, design for manufacture and costing etc. The successful graduate will have a range of skills including practical skills, which they will be able to use their own initiative and have a hunger to learn and develop quickly and methodically. Throughout the project, the graduate undertaking the project will be reporting to the senior design engineer. The team is also closely guided by the managing director who gives guidance and direction on designs. The graduate must be able to take instruction, constructive criticism and be able to work within a team environment as well as being self motivating and able to use their own initiative.
The successful candidate will need to be self motivating, a natural problem solver, a good communicator with an interest in manufacturing and engineering.
