Colpac - Innovative Food Packaging Solutions. Established 80 years ago, we design and manufacture creative, personalised food packaging products. Proud of our British heritage, we are based in Flitwick, Bedfordshire. A private, independent company, operating from one, central manufacturing unit, we design, manufacture and sell a range of paperboard and combination packaging products, featuring strong green credentials, to food service operators and retailers globally. Our company has been at the heart of the packaging industry for almost a century. We believe that an essential ingredient to our success is our ability to listen to our customers and adapt our products to suit changing market trends. We have a dedicated, in-house team of creative and technical experts who work closely together to design, engineer and manufacture food packaging solutions. This enables us to not only deliver a personalised, efficient service, but also to create a solution which directly meets our customers’ needs. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, and working with Procurement Team members, the Quality and Compliance Team, and the Logistics and Warehousing Manager, the Commercial Office Intern will: - Carry out internet and telephone research and, by coordination of Colpac agents if directed, identify potential suppliers of required products. - Collate and summarise the research carried out on product suppliers and products against agreed criteria, such as: -- product technical performance; -- cost competitiveness; -- availability of compliance documentation; -- manufacturing site accreditation; -- manufacturing capability; -- competitive relationships. - Organise purchasing of the products as directed and project manage the total supply process using the established Procurement department procedures. - Support the import Buyers, Logistics Department and Finance with administrating the import of products. - Complete all the relevant support administration tasks associated with running the purchasing systems. - Be a supportive team player able to work on own initiative. - Help control the purchasing budget. - Provide support and cover where required for other buying and commercial office functions.

Personal Attributes

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES - Fluent spoken and written business English. - Fluent spoken and written business Mandarin and Cantonese. - Fully conversant with standard office IT products (Word, Excel etc) and have a willingness and capability to learn the Imprint MIS system. - Materials knowledge (board and plastics for packaging) a distinct advantage. - Highly numerate and used to working with figures on a day-today basis. - Being well organised and having high levels of self-motivation.
