Freedom from Abuse CIC is a community interest company specialising in the prevention of child abuse plus how to recover and thrive to those who have suffered from abuse. We are based in Bedfordshire near Woburn. Currently we provide training programmes to the education sector from Independent schools through to special needs schools. Uniquely in the school’s sector we provide a three audience days training! We train children, their parents and their teachers in a co-ordinated programme where they share much of the content. This means the pupils, parents and teachers share a common understanding of child abuse issues. In addition, we train foster carers, sports organisations like the LTA, Social/Childrens Service and the Police etc. We are looking for a candidate to work as part of a team for an on-going 10-week project, with the possibility of making it a full-time position for the right candidate. Technology is at the heart of our growth plan.
We are looking to achieve two objectives. Firstly, to build an app so that children, parents and all those who care for children can communicate with Freedom from Abuse directly from a smart phone. A major benefit is a child suffering abuse can disclose by talking directly to their smart phone with a one-way conversation being stored within our cloud servers. This is important because collecting evidence from a suffering child is currently difficult because the child doesn’t want to speak with the Police or Social Services. Once we have received a communication and a file has been set up using SharePoint and Azure for example, we can communicate with the child viz ZOOM meaning we can record their meeting and also store it in the cloud space. This enables us to communicate online with those who need help and were too afraid to ask! Once assessed we can then move them onto our partners which include Crimestoppers UK and the Thrive Programme. This means we can secure a resolution very quickly when compared with current methods and we can provide the Police and Social Services with a meaningful package of information to aid their work. A lack of reliable evidence it the most significant issue for the Police and the Social Services when dealing with child abuse
The second part of the project is to take our existing WordPress website and upgrade its look and feel and to include additional features including a membership programme for the families whose children are still at school and they can easily access our knowledge, experience and professional services from the website. There would be a small monthly fee for this service.
Therefore, we are looking for someone who is proficient in commercial projects and can create the app and new pages for the website. They should be apt in creating and editing templates. Currently we are using Office 365 which provides many tools to support the developer
Our membership accounts will be able to purchase products and services. We also need to maximise the benefits of Social Media It would also be good to monitor the behaviour of the members in terms of establishing their knowledge. Database knowledge is essential.
